When copying animation, choose the top node of your hierarchy and choose "below" for your hierarchy option in the copy options. Then paste animation onto the top node of the other rig.
In the scene view, choose any portion of the character (for example, a bone from the character's skeleton)
Select File > Import Animation Clip to Characters from the Trax menu bar.
Select the file that contains the clip(s) or pose(s) you want in the file browser window, then click Import.
Choose which clips or positions you'd like to export. Select File > Export Animation Clip from the Trax menu bar. The browser window for exporting files appears.
In the Export file browser box, type the clip or pose's file name, 3.select a file type (mayaAscii, mayaBinary, move), and click Export.
