FAQs

Character riggers must use cutting-edge software to alter animations and generate realistic events, movements, and interactions. They must also draw on a wealth of understanding in science, including physics and anatomy, as well as design.

The Rigging Artist works under the direction of the Rigging Supervisor to create rigs for 3D characters, vehicles, and objects, as well as build animation and rigging tools. He's in charge of designing animation interfaces that fulfill both the project's technical and artistic goals.

Rigging is the process of establishing an internal'skeleton' that specifies how the item should move and what limits it should have. Skinning is the process of informing your model of which sections of it should move as the rig moves.
