Blend shapes, also known as morph targets in Maya, are a powerful technique to inject life to a static model. You construct a target form and then use a slider to blend your model into and out of it, creating a wonderful organic motion, even if it is a linear movement.
A lattice deformer has a lattice that you may adjust to change the shape of a deformable object. An ear model is deformed by a lattice deformer. Lattice points can be moved to generate deformation effects.
Right-click a Blend Shape Deformer (BSD) name in the Shape Editor and select Select.
Pick the base object, then select the blendShape node in the object's history under INPUTS in the Channel Box.
In 3D animation, blend shapes are used to interpolate between multiple sets of geometry. Blend shapes, for example, are frequently used in face animation to transition between expressions, such as when a character breaks into a smile or frown from a neutral look.
