Expressions are an important part of After Effects. They allow you to control various aspects of your animation with a set of parameters that are evaluated and updated in real time.

Expressions can be used to control the values of any parameter in After Effects, such as position, scale, rotation, color and opacity.

Expressions are written in a programming language called Ease and can be used to set the values of any property that is available in After Effects. Expressions allow you to do many things like: animate colors, set scale and rotation, add randomness, etc.

Expressions can be used to animate properties of a layer. There are three types of expressions: keyframe, time, and event.
