Locators are used to identify HTML elements on a web page, and practically all UI automation tools have the ability to use locators for this purpose.

The following are the eight types of locators or identifiers provided by Selenium:

  • Id.
  • Name.
  • Class Name.
  • Tag Name.
  • Link Text.
  • Partial Link Text.
  • CSS.
  • XPath.

Locators in Selenium define an address that uniquely identifies a web element within a webpage. As a result, several types of locators can be used to properly and precisely identify site items. Selenium Webdriver supports the following types of locators: ClassName. ID.

Selenium The web elements on a web page are identified using locators. Locators are used to access HTML elements from a web page. To conduct actions on text boxes, checkboxes, links, radio buttons, list boxes, and other web elements, we can use locators in Selenium.
