In Selenium IDE, type "css=input[type='submit']" (locator value). Select the Find Button from the drop-down menu. The "Sign in" button will be highlighted, indicating that the locator value has been verified. Attribute: This is what is used to make the CSS Selector.

The selector:nth-child(n) matches all elements that are the nth child of their parent. A number, a keyword (odd or even), or a formula (like a + b) can all be used as n. Tip: Use the:nth-of-type() selection to find the element that is its parent's nth child of the same type (tag name).

  • Select an element with the right-click menu.
  • Select Inspect.
  • In the Developer Tools' Elements panel, look for the element.
  • Right-click on the line of the element.
  • Copy -> Copy Selector or Copy -> Copy XPath are the options.
  • Paste the result into an action's ID field.
