The practise of providing written, oral, or other exams to determine a job applicant's fitness or desirability is known as employment testing.

  • Tests of performance evaluation
  • Personality evaluations
  • Tests of cognitive abilities
  • Job-related knowledge tests
  • Tests of situational judgment.

These examinations are used to assess applicants' mental abilities. They assess an individual's learning abilities, such as their capacity to catch or interpret instructions, as well as their decision-making and judgement skills.

IQ tests, which are the most prevalent, assess general mental capacity. Other examinations assess verbal capabilities, numerical abilities, spatial vision, and inductive and deductive thinking. Strength, endurance, and muscle mobility are all tested in physical ability tests. Aptitude tests assess a candidate's aptitude for learning new skills.
