Python has a straightforward user input mechanism. The input function takes a console line, converts it to a string, and then returns it. All information received by the input function is converted to string format. To convert the input into the desired format, we employ type conversion.
To retrieve Python user input from the keyboard, use the input() method. After entering the value, press the enter key. There is no timeout and the application waits indefinitely for user input. The input function returns a string, which can be saved in a variable.
The raw input() method reads a line from input (i.e. the user) and converts it to a string by removing the last newline. For new users, this page illustrates several typical and helpful raw input() examples. Please note that in Python version 3, raw input() was renamed to input().
