Python was chosen as the main language by the Raspberry Pi Foundation because of its power, versatility, and ease of use. Python comes preloaded on Raspbian, so you can get started right away. On the Raspberry Pi, you have a variety of Python programming options.

Python 3 is recommended. Raspbian (Stretch version April 2018 and before) utilizes Python 2 by default.
Install pip first. Full Screen: If you're running Raspbian on a desktop computer, pip should already be installed.
The def keyword is followed by the function name and parenthesis to define a function. The parameters are listed inside the parenthesis. These are the same as arguments, however they are referred to as 'parameters' within the definition.
