FAQs

Drawing in Autodesk Inventor is the process of creating a viewable, three-dimensional object by using 3D objects and software tools. The most common type of drawing tool in Autodesk Inventor is the line tool.

1 Select an option from the File New drop-down menu. 2 Customize settings in the Document Settings dialogue on the Tools tab Options panel. 3 Create new drawing borders, title blocks, sheet formats, or sketch symbols, or copy drawing resources from another file to customise drawing resources.

The mistakes most often made by new Autodesk Inventor users are when they are joining their lines, forgetting to use a line weight, or failing to include the sketch layer. These mistakes can lead to having holes in their drawings and even ripping objects in half.

When starting a new drawing, the first thing you should do is set up your workspace. Inventor has a variety of tools that make it easier to create engineering or product drawings. You can create a sketch, block diagram or wireframe in order to visualize your design before building it. Start by making sure the dimensions are correct and then move on to the next steps of creating your drawing.
