The stringr package contains a unified set of methods that make working with strings as simple as possible. If you're not familiar with strings, the chapter on strings in R for Data Science is a good place to start.
Use the strsplit() method in R to split a string. strsplit() is a R function that divides a string vector into sub-strings. The strsplit() method returns a list, with each list item resembling the split item of input.
