It features characteristics that are optimised for Arnold rendering. Select Arnold from the list in the Command Panel's Create panel ()> (Lights) to open the Arnold lights, as seen above. Select Arnold Light from the Object Type drop-down menu.
The Arnold category in the Slate Material Editor offers materials designed expressly for use with the Arnold renderer. The Arnold material category will not appear until Arnold is selected as the production renderer in the Render Setup dialogue box.
To make an Arnold light source, go to the 'Arnold' menu at the top of the interface, then 'Lights.' A list of alternatives appears, including Area, Skydome, Mesh, and Photometric.
In Arnold, the global illumination is controlled by the Ray Depth parameter. In the Arnold Renderer tab of the Render Setup dialogue, under the Sampling and Ray Depth section, we have Ray Depth, where we can see values for the diffuse, specular, transmission, and volume components of the rendering.
Choose an object (Or objects)
Go to the Lighting/Shading section.
Select 'Assign New Material' from the drop-down menu.
Click the "Arnold" item in the left column of the dialogue that appears.
This will filter out the right-hand materials, leaving only Arnold-specific materials.
