GitHub is a software development platform that allows you to save, track, and collaborate on software projects online. It allows developers to upload their own code files and work on open-source projects with other developers.

Users of GitHub can construct and host personal websites (one per user is allowed) as well as websites dedicated to certain GitHub projects. Pages allows you to perform the same things as GitHub, but if the repository is labelled correctly and the files within it are HTML or Markdown, you can view them just like any other website.

GitHub Pages is available in public and private repositories with GitHub Pro, GitHub Team, GitHub Enterprise Cloud, and GitHub Enterprise Server, as well as in public and private repositories with GitHub Free and GitHub Free for companies. See "GitHub's Products" for further details.

Getting Started with GitHub Pages: a step-by-step tutorial to developing and publishing a free portfolio, blog, or website with GitHub Pages. GitHub Pages has got to be the coolest tool that most people aren't aware of. With the touch of two buttons, almost every GitHub repository may be transformed into a website.
