The process of installing and configuring software essential for programming in C is known as environment setup. Two items are required to begin coding in C: Text Editor - A text editor is a piece of software that allows you to write code in C. For example, on Windows, Notepad++, and on Linux, vim.

C/C++ integrated development environments, or C/C++ IDEs, are software platforms that give programmers and developers with a complete set of tools for developing software in the C and/or C++ programming languages in a single product.

Setting Up the Windows Path:

  • Select 'Properties' from the right-click menu on 'My Computer.'
    Under the 'Advanced' tab, click the 'Environment variables' button.
    Now change the 'Path' variable to include the path to the Java executable.

Visual Studio Code. It is an open-source code editor developed by Microsoft for Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
Eclipse. It is one of the most popular, powerful and useful IDEs used by developers for C/C++ programming.

  • NetBeans.
  • Sublime Text.
  • Atom.
  • Code::Blocks.
  • CodeLite.
  • CodeWarrior.

Right-click the Windows icon on the Windows taskbar and select System. Click Advanced system settings in the Settings window's Related Settings section. Select Environment Variables from the Advanced menu. To make a new environment variable, click New.
