Android VideoView Class


In today's video of a topic is Android videoview class.

Android videoview class is a visual component which when added to the layout of an activity, provides a surface onto which a video may be played.

Android supports video formats like H.263, H.264 AVC, MPEG-4 SP, VP8.

The android.widget.videoview class has a wide range of methods that may be called in order to manage the playback of video.

Some of the most commonly used methods are as follows,

public void start()

public void pause()

public void resume ()

public void stopPlayback()

public void setVideoURI ()

One of the important method is public void setMediaController(MediaController controller) which sets the media controller to the video view.

Key Methods of MediaController Class are,

setAnchorView(View view), show(), hide(), isShowing, and show(int timeout).
