How to Create a Facebook Group for SMM ?

In the last topic we saw what is a facebook page, the types of facebook page. Along with this we also saw how to create a new facebook page.

 In today’s session we will learn what a facebook group is and how many types of facebook groups exist and how do they function. We shall also cover an interesting example in our session today.

Facebook groups are a place to communicate about shared interests. Say for example I love coffee a lot. So I would like to be a part of the group named coffee lovers. Similarly, there are a lot of people who love to travel, they even post tips on travel. So such people may want to be a part of the facebook group that is related to travel.

So in a nutshell if I have to describe a facebook group then it is a group or a platform for like minded people.

You can create a facebook group of any type.You can create a facebook group for movie lovers, coffee club, book club, gaming zone. You can create a facebook group for any of your interests or a shared passion.

Setting up a facebook group is absolutely free and incurs no cost. Facebook does not charge anything to set up a facebook group.

Let us understand facebook groups with the help of this video. (THERE IS A LONG PAUSE AS THE VIDEO IS PLAYING)

So as you saw in this video there are 2 main types of facebook groups:

One is Public and the other is private.

Im hereby presenting an example of a private facebook group and that is “Put me in touch - Ahmedabad” and as you can see this is a private group. There are around 3 Lakh plus members and this is how the facebook group operates.

On the right, is the description of the group. You can see what all have been posted by the people of the group, what has the admin posted.

With the help of the privacy settings you can control what all should be kept public and what should be private.

In Fact in the video we also saw that few groups can be created where in the setting is “invite only”. So if I wish to invite a user to a group then I can send an invite email, I can send an invite message, then that particular facebook group will become invite only.

Other facebook group is Public group. So as you can see from this video, a public group is open for all. You can publicly search for it, publicly access its content and publicly, you can also view the communication taking place among the other members of the group, the comments being posted by the members. Not only that, even search engines can publicly crawl it.

Let us further understand in detail, how to create a facebook group.

The first step is that you have to login to your facebook account. As we have seen in our previous sessions how to create a facebook profile, how to create a facebook account.

So once you have created a facebook account, the credentials that is, the user id and password is with you. Now, using the same user id and password you will be logging in to your facebook account - that is our first step.

The next step is - as soon as I login to my facebook account, we get to see on the top these 4 icons. We need to click this particular icon. As soon as you click on it, a new tab will open up. Let us see that in our next slide. This icon signifies a group.

So the new tab or a window that opens  on clicking that icon will look like this. Here. on the left, you can see a column for groups, you need to click on “Create new group”.

As soon as you click on “Create new group” then a window like this will open.

As you can see on the left, there are simple straightforward fields.

You need to give a name to this group.

You need to select the privacy for the group, whether you want to keep the group as private or public. So you need to select privacy for this.

Then you can invite friends from here if at all you wish to invite. This last step is completely optional.

As soon as you fill in all these information, these details; facebook also gives you an option to upload a photo.
