Hello Friends, welcome to learnvern.
We have now reached the career guideline section of this course.
Let us now see the guidelines that will help you in building your career.
The very first thing that I have brought for you is the “Job Profile”
That is, which are those job profiles where you can apply after completing this course.
The first one is “Social Media executive” profile.
Right?
Social media executive is a role of importance in many places as social media is implemented at various places may it be brands or agencies. So a social media executive plays different roles at different places.
How to create a strategy on social media and how to run ads on a social media or what content to publish - all these tasks are taken care of by the “social media executive”
Then you can also apply for the role of “Digital marketing executive”
Of Course this will require you to have a little advanced knowledge.
You need to have at least some basic knowledge of:
SEO
Digital Marketing
Email Marketing
Video Marketing
Then the next role you can apply for is “Ad Account Executive”
This is a prevailing job role in Agencies.
“Ad account executive” can be termed as a second form of “social media executive”
This person is responsible for all the account related activities on a social media platform.
Then the 4th profile is the “client servicing executive”
These client servicing executives basically work with an ad agency.
There they work as a bridge between the ad agency and the client.
Right?
So after completing this course you can as well apply for the role of “Client servicing executive”
The most important thing here is that to apply for this role one must have a good understanding of and a strong knowledge on social media so that you will be in a position to address the queries of your clients well.
Now, if you are a little experienced person then you can apply for the role of “Social media manager” too.
You may also apply for the role of “Campaign specialist”
For this role, an understanding of ads is a must.
And if you are an experienced person in the advertising field or if you wish to pursue your career in this field then you can apply for the role of “Campaign specialist” too.
These last 2 to 3 profiles are basically for the experienced professionals. So if you have some experience then definitely you can apply to and explore these profiles as well.
“Digital media planner” - you can explore this role too.
Whatever planning and buying takes place on a digital media platform is handled by a digital media planner.
The starting salary of freshers for these roles range between 15000 to 16000 per month.
This is just a starting range. So if you are very talented then you may also draw a salary between 18000 to 20000. Also note that these salary ranges differ from city to city.
But yes, the basic salary or the starting salary can be considered as 15000 per month.
Now the main and the important part: “Organisations”
Which all organisations can you explore?
You can explore “ad agencies”, “Digital advertising agencies” can also be explored.
Now, what is the difference between “Digital ad agency” and an “Ad agency”
Ad agency - focuses on almost all traditional platforms, may it be outdoor, creatives, may it be TV or a newspaper ad.
Whereas a digital ad agency focuses only and only on the digital platforms.
So you have both the options open, you may apply to either of them or you may apply to both.
Then you can approach “independent brands” also.
Like,
“Retail”
“Education”
“Entertainment”
You can approach the brands from these categories as well.
These days, most of the brands have started building their own inhouse team.
Right?
So if they have an inhouse digital media team, then you may consider joining them as well.
You can also apply to the “large corporations” like
“TCS”
And many more such big organisations can be targeted for your job.
There is one more category of company that is “CSR organisations” or NGO’s
They consider social media as a very powerful medium to generate donations, to ensure more visibility. Thus CSR organisations and NGO can also be an option for you to apply for a job.
“Future skills to build”
Which all are the future skills you should consider to build for your own betterment?
You should focus on “Campaigns”
You should focus on “Paid marketing campaigns”
How will you create campaigns, set up those campaigns - all these should be focused on.
If you wish to pursue as a digital marketing executive, then the other aspects of digital marketing should also be explored like:
SEO
SEM that is “search engine marketing”
“Email marketing”
If you wish to pursue your career in video marketing, then video production and marketing is also an emerging field, so you can explore this too.
Then we have “Graphics design”. If you are fond of graphics or interested in graphics, then you must definitely develop this skill.
There are many tools available like “Canva”, “Spark”. Using these tools you can create excellent graphics for your social media platforms. So this is indeed a very good skill where you dont need to be dependent on anyone. You can develop this skill by yourself. You can also design the creatives for your channel by yourself.
Then one more skill is “CopyWriting”. In Copywriting you can have a command on the content, irrespective of whether the content is written in English or Hindi.
One more thing that is emerging faster these days is “Regional Content”
So it is not necessary that you must know English. If you are fluent in your regional language, if you are an expert in a specific language then you can move forward in that specific language too; may it be Marathi, or Bengali or Punjabi or Gujarati, it can be any language. If you feel that you are an expert in that language or you wish to become an expert in any specific language then you can choose that option too.
In fact Google supports Regional languages a lot. Google pushes regional content a lot.
So if you want to write a blog in your regional language or if you wish to create a social media account then definitely this is a great idea.
Lastly you should be well aware of the latest trends and innovations because this is one such topic that interviewers may frequently ask questions about. Questions like:
What are the new updates on Instagram?
What are the new updates on Facebook?
So you must definitely know about this.
And lastly, “do not give up”
One should not give up, I never give up.
None of my student gives up
So here i would like to give you all a suggestion:
You might find social media a little difficult platform, you may also face a lot of challenges like:
You are posting reels but it is not generating the desired views.
You are publishing posts but still it is not generating the desired reach.
Still you should keep trying, keep working towards it with a proper strategy. Definitely you will get the desired results. Hence never give up, keep moving, keep moving, keep trying, trust me you are sure to get the results.
I would like to end this conversation with a small story. This story is highly motivating so I thought of sharing it with you.
I had read this story from a book a few years ago.
This story is close to my life.
So what is this story about?
This story is of a Woodcutter, one who cuts trees.
So this woodcutter works in a forest.
In the forest, his task is to cut woods, cut trees.
So when he had just started, just taken up this job, he could cut around 4 woods a day.
Then as the time passed by, he gained experience day by day and thus his capacity to cut more wood increased and thereby from 4 he managed to cut 5 trees a day.
Then in the span of another 2 to 3 months he could cut 6 trees easily instead of just 5.
And then again in a couple of few months he reached the number of cutting down 7 trees.
So his capacity to cut trees reached 7 a day.
Then the employer who had employed him, realised that the work is happening faster.
Right?
So they hired 1 more woodcutter, added 1 more man to cut trees.
The previous one had grown older and was around 45 years of age. He has been cutting trees for a pretty long time and he had set a benchmark of 7 trees.
Right?
Now this new woodcutter who had joined used to begin his day at 9 am as that was his work time. So from 9 am till 1pm, he managed to cut 3 trees.
Stay with me till the end, this is a very very interesting story.
So as I said, he managed to cut the woods of 3 trees from morning 9 am till noon 1 pm.
Then he took a break of one and a half hours. And in the remaining time of the working hours he could cut another 3 trees.
So in the 1st month itself he could manage to cut 6 trees a day.
And he used to take one and a half hour break in the noon and another 30 minutes break in the evening.
Then what happened?
Then in another 2 months he managed to reach 7 trees a day.
Now, the woodcutter who was hired first took how many months to reach the number 7 trees a day, whereas this new guy who had joined recently managed to reach the number 7 in just 2 months time.
And in less time he reached 8 trees a day, and in another couple of days he managed to cut 10 trees a day.
And soon there was the day where he started cutting 15 trees a day.
So the older woodcutter went upto the new woodcutter and said that I have been cutting the woods of the trees for so many years and I could reach only 7 trees a day whereas you are cutting almost double the number of trees and that too in less than 6 months of your joining.
What is the reason behind it?
To this the new woodcutter replied that the break that i take in between, that is one and a half hour break in the noon and another 30 mins in the evening, during those breaks i dont move here or there. I use that time to sharpen my skills, I sharpen the instrument I use that is my axe. I rub it to make it more sharp thereby I can make it more effective and thus this helps me to cut more trees easily.
This is exactly what one needs to apply in their real life too.
Digital and Social is one such important platform where you need to continuously upgrade your skills, you need to add new skills regularly. You have to keep up with the time, at times you must be ahead of time. You must have a futuristic thinking. All this if taken care of, you are sure to achieve your objective and goal.
So,
