Hello friends, welcome to learnvern.
So in the last session we saw:
The features available on instagram,
What are reels?
What are stories?
What are live and hashtags?
In today's session we will learn how to create a youtube channel. We will also see the best practices available by which we can create a stunning youtube channel.
First of all let us understand what is the need to create a youtube channel. If you are a blogger, if you are a brand or if you run your own business or if you run a freelancing business then why do you need a youtube channel of your own?
The very first point - a deeper connection with your audience. You can establish a deeper connection with your audience. The video that you will upload will enable your audience to see you, hear you out, will understand your expressions by which you will be able to form a deeper bond with them.
See whenever you post anything on social media, may it be an image, may it be a video or may it be a link - the major impact is that of a video as a video creates the most impact in the minds of your audience.
And the most important thing which i had already discussed in one of my previous units is that post pandemic, video consumption has increased tremendously.
A few years ago, data, mobile internet of 1 GB used to cost us Rs. 200 to Rs.300 but with the launch of JIO the entire industry got disrupted.and the data was made available for free.
Because of this, the video consumption on mobiles started growing rapidly.
As the video consumption will grow, people will start watching more of your videos. They will increase their use of youtube, facebook, instagram. Thus the demand for videos started increasing.
The third point is that the videos can be called a traffic source may it be on your blog or on your website.
For example if you are a blogger and say you write a blog on digital marketing or if you write a blog on cooking and you wish that maximum people visit your blog and many of them read your recipes. Then in such a case what will you do?
Then you will ensure its publicity on different social media platforms.
So the impact of youtube or the advantages of youtube are the highest.
This will generate additional traffic to your website thereby the earnings of your website, the traffic on your website and the popularity of your website will increase many folds.
Youtube channels are not only a source for increasing additional traffic but also a source of additional income.
If you wish to gather more knowledge and information related to this then you may check out a youtube partner program in which by meeting a few guidelines you can apply for adsense. Here you can monetise your videos and you can associate with google in partnership where google will place ads on your videos and out of the total revenue that gets generated, you will receive 1% of it as a creator.
So far we have seen the importance of a youtube channel. We also saw why one should create a youtube channel for his business or for a personal brand.
Let us look at the steps to create a youtube channel.
If you hold a Gmail account, then by default your youtube channel gets created.
If you do not hold a Gmail account then the first step you need to do is to create a gmail account.
Go to the url - gmail.com and following the simple steps create a gmail account.
You just need to fill in some basic information like your name, your email address, username you wish to have, your password. And when you click on this confirm button and then on the next button, your gmail account gets created and is ready to be used.
And as your gmail account is created, by default your youtube account also gets created.
If you wish to access your youtube account then firstly you need to login to gmail then you will click on a new tab. You can use any browser to do so like chrome can be used or even mozilla.
So open any browser, then sign in to your gmail and then open a new tab to access your youtube account.
As you can see on my screen, this is how a youtube channel looks like. You have a cover image, you have videos, playlists, you have a community section, you have an about section. So this is how a youtube channel is displayed.
Now let us look at some important terminology. There are many such things on youtube that are important for us to know.
On the top you can see this arrow, this section is called cover image. This is an image that you can upload on your youtube channel. What does your channel do, what opportunities does your channel provide, what kind of videos gets uploaded on this channel, what are the unique selling points - all these things you can display in this cover image or you may want to communicate through this cover image.
Then as you can see below, here we have a subscriber base. The users, your audience, your viewers, people who are watching your videos and are liking them - they can click on the subscribe button. As you can see a subscribe button here, this subscribe button audience can click and as soon as they click it, the probability of your future videos to get displayed on the feed and notifications increases.
This is your logo, your profile picture, you can also upload your brand’s logo.
Now let us understand some more important elements of youtube.
On the top here you can see “Live Webinar on create 3D logo in illustrator and photoshop”.
We call it a video title also called a meta title. In technical language this is a title.
Below it what you see is the number of views. How many times has my video been viewed?
Though we aren't discussing the amount of time spent by people on this video. That we will understand when we study about Youtube Analytics in our upcoming sessions.
Here we are only referring to the unique people or the number of people who have viewed my youtube video. So here in this example you can see that we have 8,487 views on this video.
Then here you can see likes and dislikes. So thumbs up is Like and people who did not like the video click on dislike
On the right you can see a chat section. Now this video that we saw was a live video where the presenter was recording live and helping the viewers with a live session. And the users can post their real time queries and seek answers from everyone. So this is how a live section works.
You can share this video with your friends, family. You can also save this video in case you wish to refer to this video in the near future. So all these videos that you save can be fetched from Saved Videos.
Let us move further and understand more deeply about other such important elements of youtube.
We had seen the title, that is the meta title, then the description. Now we will see the comments section. The biggest advantage of social media platforms is that it gives you real time feedback. Whatever you upload here, you will receive real time feedback. Users will view it and they share their feedback via comments, through likes, emojis, emoticons too.
So social media is such a platform that gives you real time feedback. So as soon as we upload a video, users will start commenting on it, they will start posting their queries on it. That particular section we call the comments section. A place where users can share their thoughts, feedback, suggestions with you and the creator.
That is all in today’s session.
If you have any queries or comments, click the discussion button below the video and post there. This way, you will be able to connect to fellow learners and discuss the course. Also, Our Team will try to solve your query.
In the next unit we will understand further in depth about the other features of youtube. We will learn to upload a title and a description. We will also learn what youtube shorts are.
Thank you.
