Custom Audiences are made up of your website’s visitors, who have given their consent to be part of the audience. It is also possible to create an audience based on the interests and behaviors of people on websites other than your own.

Custom Audiences is a way of targeting Facebook ads to people who have visited your website or come from a different ad. It's a way to target your audience as they are browsing the web, rather than just when they visit your site. In order to do so, you upload data from your website and create an audience that matches those people. Once you've created an audience, you can either create an ad campaign on Facebook or use it as part of a campaign that's already running on Facebook. You can also target Custom Audiences for retargeting purposes.

Facebook Custom Audiences is different from Facebook Ads because it relies on user-provided data to find the right customers, while Facebook Ads relies mostly on demographic information about the customers themselves.

  • Reach new customers: You can create a custom audience from your CRM database and target those customers on Facebook with specific messages, offers, and announcements;
  • Reactivate old customers: If you want to reactivate old customers or prospects, upload their contact information as a custom audience and send them ads about products they had previously shown interest in;
  • Target prospects: Upload email addresses of new prospects into custom audiences and use them as the target group for your ads.

The first step in creating a Custom Audience is by creating a target audience for your ad campaign. To create an audience, you must have an existing Facebook Page or ad account that has been set up before you start advertising on Facebook.
