The prop() method sets or returns the specified items' properties and values. This function returns the value of the FIRST matched element when used to return the property value. This method sets one or more property/value pairs for the set of matched components when used to set property values.
The prop() method receives property values explicitly, whereas the attr() method retrieves attributes. selectedIndex, tagName, nodeName, nodeType, ownerDocument, defaultChecked, and defaultSelected, for example, should be retrieved and set with the method.
Prop() is a function in JavaScript that returns an arbitrary object. It can be used to return a value that is different from the arguments passed to it.
