All speed and distance measurements are converted to journey time units by the computer software, which is written in the FORTRAN IV programming language. A time-travel time diagram is then used to establish the timing strategy that results in the most efficiencies.
Traffic light control systems are commonly utilised to monitor and control the flow of cars at intersections. We present a system based on a PIC microcontroller that uses IR sensors to assess traffic density and implements dynamic time slots of varying intensities.
