Variables are used to hold data in a computer program that may be referenced and changed. They also allow us to label data with a descriptive name, making our programs easier to understand for both the reader and ourselves.
A symbol (typically a letter) that stands in for an unknown numerical value in an equation in algebra. x and y (real-number unknowns), z (complex-number unknowns), t (time), r (radius), and s (sign) are all common variables (arc length).
Every variable in the MATLAB environment is an array or matrix. You can assign variables in a straightforward manner. For example, x = 3 percent defines x and assigns a value to it. The preceding statement will be executed by MATLAB, and the outcome will be x = 3.
