Mechanical ventilation, often known as HVAC, is a technique of forced or induced ventilation that employs mechanical air handling equipment. Blowers, fans, filters, and ducts are used in mechanical ventilation to transfer and remove air from an area. There are two types of fans that are used to move air.
The primary goals of a heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system are to maintain acceptable indoor air quality through proper ventilation and filtration, as well as to provide thermal comfort.
At its most basic level, an HVAC system is a closed loop that simply circulates the air already present in your home, ensuring that no outside air enters or leaves. You'd quickly feel uncomfortable, if not ill, if you didn't have access to fresh air or a technique to purify the air in your home. This is why it's crucial to have good ventilation!
A common rule of thumb is that each side of your air conditioner should have at least one foot (or 12 inches) of clearance. The manufacturer of your air conditioner may have particular clearance specifications, but it's usually between 12 and 24 inches.
Air flow is the primary component of ventilation and air flow can be achieved by a number of strategies. These strategies are as follows: The first one is convection and this occurs when the heated air rises to the top naturally, creating a current of warmer air that displaces cooler air. The second strategy is diffusion and it occurs when hot or cold air molecules move about. The third strategy is natural ventilation which happens through windows, doors, cracks and crevices even without human intervention. Lastly, mechanical ventilation involves the transfer of heat into the surrounding by using fans or pipes.
