3D modeling, or building something from nothing in a digital world, is the digital construction of three-dimensional things in specialist computer software such as Autodesk Maya.
Maya has long been regarded as the industry's go-to app for 3D animators, thanks to its powerful rigging and animation capabilities and user-friendly workflow.
For years, Maya has been the industry standard for 3D modeling and animation, whereas Blender's 3D painting and sculpting tools aren't up to scratch. Maya is more suited to major studio projects, but Blender is suitable for small businesses.
3D modeling is the portrayal of things, animals, machines, and humans in three dimensions. All of the settings and characters in animation are created using a 3D model. In an animation studio, modeling is the first step in producing an animation.
