Open the gauge's configuration, look for a property called Data Source or Tag or something similar, and type in the tag name. If the user runs SCADA software in "run mode" at this point, the temperature gauge on the screen displays the tank temperature in real time.
SCADA includes three sorts of tags: I/O tags (external), virtual tags (internal), and runtime (memory) tags. Only the I/O tag is related with the I/O count, but virtual and runtime tags have no limit and are fully free!
The term "Tag" in SCADA simply means variable in computer language. SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is a quick development application for industrial control and monitoring. Because of the nature of the system, SCADA must communicate with a wide range of external devices such as PLCs and industry-specific equipment/meters.
Tags are information placeholders in SCADA servers; they are similar to OPC items in that both internal tags (results of computations performed by SCADA scripts, for example) and external tags (information from PLCs or OPC servers) can be utilized.
